Sean & Sarah Smith

Hezekiah, Eliana, Lydia

Sean and Sarah met while attending college, but their passion for God’s work in the Czech Republic is what brought them together. While serving in Czech as a summer intern for Josiah Venture (JV) English Camps in 2009, Sarah’s eyes were opened to see God’s light shining brightly into the darkness of Central Europe. She knew, then, that she wanted to join God’s movement among Czech youth. After returning, she shared about her experience with Sean. Feeling led to explore this for himself, he became a JV summer intern in 2010. During this summer, he saw a need for leadership training to support the quickly growing church. He began to dream about being able to equip the church through biblical and theological training that would fuel God’s mission. After marrying, Sean obtained an M.Div. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, in order to equip him to better serve churches in Central and Eastern Europe. Sean and Sarah, with their son, Hezekiah (2017), and their daughters Eliana (2020) and Lydia (2023), live in Ostrava. They are supporting young leaders with discipleship and biblical education as a part of the Education and Training Team. They serve with ForMission College Europe Hub to provide an accredited bachelor degree in theology and mission for young leaders all over Central and Eastern Europe. They also conduct research to further equip the church in this region. They are passionate to see the Church equipped with strong foundations to continue to healthily grow!
